12 months on, almost to the day and I am back in Argentina. Having cut my trip short last time, I am now able to pick up the trail and enjoy all that is to offer in its capital.
The trip here was better than could be asked for, well, aside from the SMS from Qantas as the taxi pulled up at 6 am telling me my flight had been cancelled, thinking it was the one to Argentina, only to realise it was just the sydney leg, so high-tailing it to the airport with taxi driver!
Then laying around on the tarmac in Sydney for a good 45 mins as we waited for the engineers to repair the secondary radar system before we could depart. The best part however, and it did take me looking at my ticket many times to be sure, was realising my premium economy seat (i know, i know .. and I call myself a backpacker, what can I say, I am getting to be an old one!) had actually been allocated a business class seat, just with the premium economy service - nice.
back in the city that never sleeps (well maybe from 7 am till 3pm) I decided this time to stay in San Telmo. It is a funky area that so far has proven quite interesting - and full of great steak houses. Whilst BA may not sleep, it seems the debsta is of an age when she needs to, so the first two days have been a mixture if investigating, sleeping, drinking quilmes, eating empanadas, sleeping, drinking malbec, sleeping, eating steaks, sleeping ... well i am sure you get the idea. tomorrow though the fun begins as i go to take in the sites (and all the other activities mentioned thus far I am sure)
hasta luego mis amigos
