and then there was travel ...

well, the last few days have indeed been ... long!

to finish off panama ... diving ... portebello, up north, amazing. old drug plane (some of you may have heard this on colm's blog) ... absoultely brilliant.

from panama city, after a night spent with the locals, we headed to a small (and i do mean small) island called boca brava, south west of panama city. it was great. colm was over the moon with a lobster at all of 12US dollars, i was just impressed with the view, and the beach that we had to ourselves for the day ... photos to come!!

after two wonderfull dazs of doing prettz much nothing, we made the decision to head to bocca del torro. for me, it was to be a chance to see four of the eight species of sea turtles, with most of them nesting this itme of the zear, as it turned out, it was simplz just a mass of land filled with merkins / lots and lots of merkins!!

so we decided to bail on that idea, as with all the merkins around there was no chance of finding any turtles - the twang was sure to scare them off! so off we headed to costa rica, via san san pan wetlands (more turtles) ... however, given that today is sunday, this too was not to be, as the only place that goes to this area was closed. having given up on the idea of turtles, we headed for somewhere in costa rica. no idea where. no guide book, just a drunken conversation with a german at a bar in boca bravo. on arrival, colm was deposited at a bar to continue his pursuit of bird watching with beer, while i sought out appropriate accopmddation... finally, a place we could staz for a few nights. our own room, by the water, great views, very very very lovely hotel owners, hammock on the balconz, hammock bz the beach ... finally we had it all. seemed that s not to be either ... there are turtles, apparentlz up the road, so the quest continues to find sea turtles nesting tomorrow! if we aren[t able to find them, it is possible that someone (reayd into that maybe colm) maz have to be sacraficed to the turtle god to ensure that i get to see turtles!! check out colms blog for info on willie, and the merkins at the bar in boccas del tooro.
